My Priory world took its hue last August 19, 2009 being a first grader under Mrs. Evon Kawamoto.  In Priory, we are one (1) year
advance in Math and Writing so basically, I am learning the second grader level already.  As usual, Math, Reading and Spelling
are our primary school curriculum focus.

These days, I am learning to do quick mental Math (as a brain exercise) and I am getting very good at it, too.  However, every
Friday is our Spelling Bee contest and quiz.  Last week, I am so proud of earning a star.  As a result, my Daddy surprised me
with a Minnie toy from Los Angeles which is really neat since my Mickey toy badly needs a friend.

Every night, I am supposed to read at least one (1) book.   Last night (9/2/09), I read eight (8) books -- I got carried away --- oops
!  For the past several days, I delved myself into the magical books of the Rainbow Fairies by Daisy Meadows.  I cannot help
stepping into the shoes of Kirsten Tate having this so-called imaginary fairy friends !  To make it even more interesting, last
Saturday, my parents took me to Borders and I brought home five (5) new books:  two (2) Mercy Watson by Kate DiCamillo, two
(2) Dick and Jane by Grosset and Dunlap and Barbie as an Island Princess. If you have not known it yet, Mercy Watson is a
porcine wonder or a pig owned by Mr. & Mrs. Watson. Together with the Lincolns: Eugenia, Baby and General as well as Ned,
Lorenzo and Officer Tomitello these characters topped a very hilarious plot.  This week, my mom introduced me to Cam Jansen
series and The Secrets of Droon.  Cam Jansen's real name is Jennifer Jansen but because of her photographic memory, folks
began calling her Cam, short for camera.
Click!  In The Secrets of Droon --- I am captivated by the major characters of the story:
Eric, Julie & Neal who were involved in fighting against Lord Sparr and helping Princess Keeah and Galen Longbeard, the first
wizard of Droon..

It is truly amazing how books can make things come alive and transform my world in an instant.  In books, I can travel anywhere
in the world, be a princess or sly a dragon ... nobody can take that joy away from me.  At the end, I cannot help but be grateful to
my dearest Daddy, Mommy and family for their unending love and support.  I know that my life would be empty without them.  So,
I want to offer a prayer to everybody who has touched my life.  May God take you in the palm of His hand and keep you safe.  I
love you, all !

1st Quarter, School Year SY 2009-2010
9/2/09:  Wednesday Notes
9/3/09:  Thursday Notes
Today was our Library day and it was awesome.  Mrs. Yamasaki allowed me to borrow two (2) Powerpuff Girl books but my
parents were not impressed in these books.  According to them, these books are not a great read for students because of use
of bad words so I was not allowed to read it.  My mom will be returning it to the Library first thing tomorrow morning.  Last night, I
brought home "Noisy Nora.".  Like the "P" books my parents banned this book, too.  I cannot believe that for the heck of making
money, authors for children's books even entertain the use of foul words. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

After school, my parents picked me up and we had a short rest before we headed back to school for the Back To School Night
session.  My parents dropped me at Robinson Courtyard (Room 101) and they had a session with Mrs. Kawamoto in Room
S103.  I heard it was a great evening and they had a chance to meet
more or less all the parents of my classmates.  They also
met with other parents at Ylang-Ylang Courtyard before they picked me up at 6:30PM against my will.  I was just having an
excellent time with my friends and then ... my mom appeared at the Hallway waving her hand at me.  Does that mean .... ?  Oh
yeah !  Talk to you later ... bye and aloha.
9/4/09:  Friday Notes
At this moment, I want to indulge myself in sharing with you all what transpired in my Priory World.  For the first time, I wore a
Muu-muu, a Hawaiian dress in school (our Friday Aloha Attire) and I feel very Hawaiian.  My Dad bought me three (3) new
Hawaiian dresses from Reyns, a local store that specializes in Hawaiian shirts for men that do not get wrinkled.  Of course my
mom picked the dresses for me.  Hahahaha. Last night at the "Back To School Night", I wore the light green with the Palm tree
design on it.  Everybody thought I made it really look nice so I received a lot of compliments.  Thanks guys!  This morning, I
could not believe I have a dress with a classic design !  It has Nene, Hawaiian Flag and other important symbols and it got me
super -- extra --- mega excited.

On my way to Room S103, I lost my Bookworm - the book collection of Mrs. Kawamoto, my teacher.  I got so carried away that it
slipped off my Homework Red Folder.  I hid between dad's legs and asked my Daddy to talk to my teacher.  I got so scared and
felt like I lost all my wits.  My Dad called my mom and at the end, came to my rescue.  My mom was disappointed because
according to her, it is time that I learn to take full responsibility in my things.  I tell you -- mom is very strict.  It's so pointless
arguing with her.  To remedy the situation, she said, she will donate some of my new books to Mrs. Kawamoto if the book I
borrowed would not be found.  Luckily, Abbie's mom came to my rescure.  She found the book and turned it over to Mrs.
Kawamoto.  What a way to start a day!

Despite the bookworm commotion, the rest of the day went by smoothly.   I got another star in Spelling and Math tests today.  I
also did well in Hula, Art & Music.  Our music teacher gave me a certificate for singing nicely.  In Art, I colored my Hawaiian
Volcano exquisitely and drew the Hawaiian flag beautifully.  Art is in my blood so -- it was like doing it next to my mom at home.
Mom is so into art and I want to be like her. Sometimes, I get so artistic (or it must be my artistic nerves) and ended up making
a mess.  My mom gets upset but she always cleans after me.  She is a very funny mother.  My dad simply ignores us.  Dad is
the best.  Hahaha.

So, when my dad picked me up from school, I could not resist the excitement in telling him about the wonderful things that
happened today.  When my mom heard of the news, she too got so happy for me.  My parents both gave me a big hug and a
kiss. On our way home, my Niña Michelle called to talk to my Daddy.  I decided to get started in my bookworm so I can enjoy my
other new books at home. Tomorrow is my 1st ballet session with Ballet Hawaii !  The rush of excitement is already creeping
through my veins...I hope I can sleep tight tonight.  Wish me luck.  After my ballet class, we might watch a movie or go
somewhere else -- it all depends on my mum.  She is the word. So, if you don't hear from me in the next few days .. that's
because I am studying Math, buried in my bookworms and mastering my Spelling .. but know that you are always in my
thoughts and prayers.  Aloha !
9/8/09:  Tuesday Notes
There is nothing I like better than reading books.  I love reading and being read to ... closing my eyes and imagining myself in a
different world is sure pure indulgence in its very core.  Reading is most rewarding --- it is like doing ballet.  Once the session
starts, there is no turning back and a new world unfolds --- everything shimmering in splendid glory.  What makes it utterly
special is, only me can wander in my own world of imagination.  I feel free and I can do whatever I want. There are no rules and
restrictions to follow.  Everything is what I want it to be.  I am totally free and in control of my time.   I've almost finished all the
magical series of the Rainbow Magic/Fairies.  I am entering the magical world of the Secrets of the Droon --- playing along with
Neal, Eric  & Julie, helping the first wizard Galen Longbeard and Princess Keeah.  We've journeyed over time ... entered a
Volcano and now, entering the magical world of the ocean.  Swooosh....splash....splish......sisssss.....
9/15/09:  Tuesday Notes
This week is the 4th week since the start of SY 2009-2010 and already, the energy of the structured curriculum is getting me on
my toes.  I am a new student at the Priory and I am so pleased that from the very beginning, everybody has been very nice and
welcoming to me.  Last week, I received a really hearty welcome from Mrs. Armstrong, our drama teacher.

Today is my first school lunch date with my Daddy and Mommy.  It was an exciting experience.  After a bountiful lunch, my family
and I spent the rest of our time at the library.  My mom was reading Outliers, a book bought by my Daddy for her.  While she was
buried in her books, my Daddy and I solved the Abracada 100 puzzle.  It's the puzzle that got me itchy since Monday.  Today, we
had some improvements but we will try to do more on it everyday until we pin it down.

Back at home, I practised my cursive and slanted-way of handwriting and did our usual family Math session.  I love Math and it's
going to be my favorite subject.  Would you believe somebody at my age humming while solving algebra equation?  I did it this
morning on my way to school.  That sent a good shock to my mom --- hahaha.
THE INTERESTING WORLD OF MATH
In First Grade at the Priory, we are now learning Algebra.  It's interesting understanding various universal Math symbols and how
it correlate to the real world.  Practical knowledge on Algebra is very important according to my Daddy so every night, I have a
dose of it before I get to read my favorite book/s.  Last night, I solved a problem involving finding missing numbers in an
equation.   I also got introduced to an integer and I am beginning to understand why my mom always calls Math as a game.  It is
a game only if you know how to read beyond the numbers and symbols in front of you and relate the facts.   I cannot wait for
another battery test tonight.
9/16/09:  Wednesday Notes
I have mastered Multiplications 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 & 11.  This week, we are focusing on Multiplication 6.  Regarding Algebra, we are
moving along smoothly.  Everyday, my parents ensure that I don't forget the equation and the process in solving missing
numbers.  I am getting used to using "Let X" and adjusting to the habit of solving equations for hours and never give-up.  My
mom always remind me that Math is not difficult.  It becomes difficult only if you give up.  In this family, she says, we are
strangers to the word "GIVE UP."  At the end, I cannot disagree with my mom.  Math is a lot of fun.  In my Math sessions with my
mom I get to sing, dance, use my fingers, brain and etc.  It's more involved than I have imagined.  I love Math.

Priory School Motto:  Strive for the   H I G H E S T !
THE ENERGY AT SELLON HALL
Just in case you have not known, St. Andrew's Priory School is an
all-girls school, founded in 1867 by Queen Emma.  The school
campus is sprawled next to the White House or King
Kamehameha's Mansion where the incumbent Hawaii Governor is
residing.

Below are some clips of real events in my new campus as well as
sessions at home with my Daddy and my Mommy.

My parents make sure that I am the number one priority in
everything they do so it is important that I have at least 3 hours of
library time at home which consists of Math activities, Reading and
combination of many interesting things.
We will continue to learn and solve more ALGEBRAIC equations ---which means, you will hear of me talking about it a lot.  This
week, we are mastering Multiplications 6, 7, 8 & 9 simultaneously.  Since the place values of Tens & Ones are easy for me, we
decided to move ahead and tackle the Greater Than & Less Than symbols and also solve algebraic equations using these
symbols.  We will also be touching the ODD and EVEN numbers and also analyze it in a graphical manner.  So far, we're moving
along smoothly.
