Landscape Services Corporation was founded by Thomas J. Aceves in 1972. He originally established the business as
a means of supporting himself while continuing his education. In 1979, Thomas received his Bachelor of Arts degree
in Psychology from the University of Hawaii. The business began as a yard service dealing mainly with homeowners.
Through the years, Landscape Services Corporation has grown into a complete landscaping business. Today his
services include landscape planning, counseling, maintenance, new construction, remodeling, irrigation,
hydro-mulching and tree trimming.
Thomas services both commercial enterprises and government agencies in the Western United States and Pacific
Basin. Thomas attributes much of his success to the assistance from the U. S. Small Business Administration.
Thomas was certified SBA 8(a) program in January 1986, with four employees and annual sales averaging
$80,000.00. Today, the staff consists of 37 full-time employees and sales have grown to $1.7 million.
In addition to the 8(a) program, Thomas has gained knowledge in estimating, bookkeeping, financial statements,
business planning and projecting, and marketing through other SBA programs including 7(j) and SCORE workshops
and counseling.
To stay ahead of the competition, Thomas strives for excellence by offering quality and timely service at a
competitive price. Thomas also prides himself on having good working relationships with his clients. Thomas has
many professional credits to his name. He is a member of National Contract Association, was vice-president of the
Hawaii Landscape and Irrigation Contractor's Association in 1989, is a founding member of Landscape Industry
Council of Hawaii, and is a director for the Hawaii Turf Grass Association.
Thomas also volunteered his time and services through his membership in Hawaii Landscape and Irrigation
Contractors Association when it participated in the landscaping of the Ronald McDonald house located in Manoa.
